Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav: Biography, Age & History- Today is the 97th birthday of the great athlete who gave India the first award in Olympic Games. Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav was born on this day i.e. 15 January 1926 in a small village called Goleshwar in Maharashtra. Today, on his birthday, Google has remembered him by creating a doodie. He weighed 52 kg for wrestling at the 1952 Grism Olympics held in Helsinki, Finland. Participated in freestyle wrestling and won a bronze medal, became the pride of India. Today, on his birthday, we salute him.
Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav was born in an ordinary family. His father Dadasaheb was also a good wrestler. It was he who inspired KD Jadav to take up the sport of wrestling. Dadasaheb always taught wrestling to his son Khashaba. Usually when we think of a wrestler, we think of a strong built and tall fighter. But that was not the case for Khashaba. Khashaba had an average height of five feet six inches.But he was so skilled in wrestling that even better players would consider playing against him. He was very talented in wrestling.

Although K. D. Jadhav was born in a small village, he had a dream. Or playing for India once and winning a gold medal. It was a very difficult task for a small village man to go abroad and participate in the Olympics given the conditions of that time.But Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav was among the strong and determined. That is why he came to be known as Pocket Dynamo. In individual sports, no one was even thinking about medals. He has made India proud by winning medals in individual sports for the first time since independence.
Earlier he had prepared very well for the London Olympics of 1948. His
enthusiasm and self-confidence were strong. He wanted to win the gold
medal no matter what. But the economic condition of the house was not so
good. But seeing his self-confidence, and skill for the game of
wrestling. The Maharaja of Kolhapur helped him financially and he went
to participate in the London Olympics. But they could not succeed.
He continued to practice without losing heart due to his failure in the
London Olympics. Khashaba wanted to continue working hard f
or four
years for the Olympics to be held in 1952 and get a gold medal in the
Olympics. He had incredible confidence and enthusiasm. The financial
situation was not good but by talking to the family members he mortgaged
his house. This amount was very less. But the Maharashtra government
helped him with 4000 rupees, now Khashaba Dada Saheb Jadhav’s dream of
going to Helsinki, Finland for the Olympics came true. He participated
in the Olympics and this time his wrestling skills made him a winner. He
got bronze medal in this olympic.
After winning the Olympics,
he got a job as a sub-inspector in the Maharashtra government’s Mumbai
Police, but his passion for wrestling did not diminish. They always go
to the arena. And motivating the youth. Subsequently, as a result of his
excellent service as a policeman, he was promoted to the post of
Assistant Commissioner. But alas, after some time she got seriously
injured in a road accident and left us permanently on 14th August 1984.
